Volunteers for ProsperityVolunteers for Prosperity (VfP) was established as a result of a Presidential Executive Order to encourage international voluntary service by highly skilled Americans to promote health and prosperity worldwide. This agenda is represented by a number of Presidential initiatives including the Digital Freedom Initiative. IESC Geekcorps is a VfP partner.

Geekcorps Featured on KRUU-FM’s “Open Views”

Geekcorps Receives Tech Museum Award

Tech Museum Awards TrophyGeekcorps is one of 25 Tech Laureates who received a Tech Museum Award on November 15. The awards recognize “the best of those who are utilizing innovative technology solutions to address the most urgent critical issues facing our planet.” Geekcorps received an award in the Economic Development category for its work on the Desert PC in remote Bourem Inaly, Mali.

IESC offers technical assistance in Lebanon

Geekcorps mentioned in S.F. Chronicle

22 September 2006

Wednesday’s San Francisco Chronicle published an article about Intel’s new high-speed wireless network in Parintins, Brazil. The network is a test of WiMax technology.

In the article, Geekcorps Director Wayan Vota talks about Geekcorps’ similar work in Mali, particularly in Bourem Inaly, and the corporate interest it generated — enough for Via Technologies to send an international marketing manager to Bourem Inaly to see it in person.
